Food Services Director

2024 was my second year in school food service. Previously, I was a professional photographer who went back to school during covid and finished my long neglected education. I have an AS and BS in psychology. After moving from California to a small, rural town in northeast Iowa, I became the FSD for our small school district. I have a great passion for creating healthy, fun meals for our students that widen their horizons and expand their pallets. Last year I was the recipient of a one of 12 Project SCALES grants that is allowing us to create a supply chain between local food producers and our school district. I am dedicated to increasing our use of local produce and protein in our district so we can support the community while increasing the quality of food available to our students.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
