California Pre-Apprenticeship Program Coordinator

Leslie serves as the organization’s California Pre-Apprenticeship Program Coordinator. In this role, she supports pre-apprentice applicants and participants in workforce development for job opportunities in healthy, scratch-cook school food programs.

Previously, she was the Community Nutrition and Health Educator with the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). Leslie was the first older youth nutrition educator in Alameda County. She built new relationships with middle schools and high schools to provide our no-cost nutrition education program to their students.

Leslie earned a BS in US Environmental Policy and Management at UC Berkeley, with a minor in Food Systems. She believes that in order for all communities to have access to sustainable, nutritious, and culturally relevant foods, a bridge must be built between communities, policy-makers, and the agricultural industry. Studying food systems at UC Berkeley and working in various capacities have further reinforced this belief in her, having grown up in the Central Valley.

Outside of work, she enjoys antiquing/thrifting and trying out new coffee shops!

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
