Laura started her school food journey at Boulder Valley School District (Boulder, CO), implementing the district’s farm-to-school, nutrition education, and local food promotion programs. After nearly five years at BVSD, she moved to Boise, Idaho where she served as the Health Policy & Promotion Program Manager for Idaho’s largest public health district for three years. Laura joined the Chef Ann Foundation (CAF) team in May 2022, previously serving as the Program Director of Workforce Development and Executive Director of Programs, and currently serves as the Chief Program Officer.

Laura started her school food journey at Boulder Valley School District (Boulder, CO), implementing the district’s farm-to-school, nutrition education, and local food promotion programs. After nearly five years at BVSD, she moved to Boise, Idaho where she served as the Health Policy & Promotion Program Manager for Idaho’s largest public health district for three years. Laura joined the Chef Ann Foundation (CAF) team in May 2022, previously serving as the Program Director of Workforce Development and Executive Director of Programs, and currently serves as the Chief Program Officer.
Laura’s work focuses on a wide variety of school food operator support programs, from workforce development to grant programs and more. A major part of her work is supporting the development, implementation, and expansion of CAF’s Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) program to support workforce readiness, training, and upskilling from entry-level positions through school food management. Laura also oversees the program strategy, implementation, and execution of CAF’s online learning program, the School Food Institute; grant programs, Salad Bars to Schools and Bulk Milk; USDA cooperative agreement programs, Healthy Meals Incentives and School Food Systems Transformation Challenge; operator resource website, The Lunch Box; values-aligned procurement collective efforts; and project management for CAF’s technical assistance and systems change programs, including Get Schools Cooking and custom district support programs. Through these programs, the Chef Ann Foundation is committed to helping school districts build, implement, and sustain a self-operated, cook-from-scratch program.
Laura received her B.A. in Psychology from Bates College (Lewiston, ME) and her Master of Public Health from the Colorado School of Public Health (Ft. Collins, CO). Laura currently lives in Erie, Colorado with her husband and their very fuzzy cat.
